Rainfall forecast (anomalies)

Rainfall anomalies

  • More than usual rainfall expected over parts of northern, eastern and southern Tanzania, southern Kenya, southern Somalia, western regions of Rwanda and Burundi, most parts of South Sudan, southern Sudan, and western Ethiopia.
  • Less than usual rainfall expected over parts of eastern Uganda, western Kenya, southern Ethiopia, and south-western Tanzania.  
Temperature forecast (Anomalies)

Temperature anomalies

  • Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the GHA. 
  • Cooler than usual temperatures expected over parts of eastern South Sudan, eastern Kenya, and other isolated areas across the GHA. 
Heavy rainfall
  • Rainfall exceeding the 90th percentile (the highest 10% on record)expected over parts of northern and southern Tanzania. 
Floods update
  • There is a  likelihood of isolated flash flood incidences over northern and southern Tanzania.

Mean temperatures

  • High temperatures (> 32℃) expected over southern parts of Sudan.  
  • Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. 
  • Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over parts of central Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, northern and southern Tanzania, and western regions of Rwanda and Burundi. 
Heat Stress

Heat Stress

  • Elevated heat stress levels are expected  in most parts of South Sudan, southern regions of Sudan, northern and eastern Kenya, southern Somalia, and coastal regions of Tanzania. 
Rainfall forecast

Total rainfall

  • Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected in most parts of Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, central to eastern South Sudan and western Ethiopia 
  • Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over parts of southern Sudan, eastern and southern Uganda, eastern and southern Kenya, southern Somalia, and most parts of South Sudan.
