Temperature
Temperature Anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected in eastern and southern Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, and parts of Uganda.
- Colder than average temperatures expected in central to western Sudan, and parts of Tanzania.
Mean Temperature
- Moderate temperatures (between 20 - 32 ℃) expected in South Sudan, southern Sudan, Uganda, eastern and northern Kenya, much of Somalia, Djibouti, most parts of Eritrea, southern and north-eastern Ethiopia, and most places in Tanzania.
- Relatively cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected in central to northern Sudan, parts of central Ethiopia, western Eritrea, parts of northern Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi, parts of central to western Kenya, and a few areas in Tanzania.
Exceptional Rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy rainfall (top 10-5%) expected over parts of eastern Tanzania, especially in the Lindi, Ruvuma, and Mtwara regions.
Rainfall Anomalies
- Heavier than usual rainfall expected in southern and eastern Tanzania.
- Lighter than usual rainfall expected in western Tanzania.
Total Rainfall
Headline: Heavy rainfall expected in Burundi and southern Tanzania, especially in the Lindi, Ruvuma, and Mtwara regions. Most areas north of the Equator remain dry. Warmer than average temperatures expected in the equatorial and north-eastern regions of the Greater Horn of Africa.
- Heavy rainfall (above 100mm) expected in Burundi and southern Tanzania, especially over the Lindi, Ruvuma, and Mtwara regions where isolated areas could receive more than 200mm.
- Light rainfall (less than 30 mm) expected in southern Uganda, northern Tanzania, Rwanda, and parts of western Kenya.
- Dry conditions are expected in Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, and most parts of Kenya.
