Temperature forecast
  • Warm temperatures above 32℃ are expected in northern Sudan, coastal Eritrea, Afar region in Ethiopia, Djibouti, and northern coastal regions of Somalia.
  • Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ are expected in central and southern Sudan, South Sudan, south-eastern and north-eastern Ethiopia, Somalia, eastern and northern Kenya, Uganda, and parts of north-western and eastern Tanzania.
  • Relatively cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ are expected in central and western Ethiopia, central and western Kenya, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and central and southern Tanzania.
Heavy rainfall

Headline: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected over parts of northern Ethiopia, Eritrea, and parts of eastern and western Sudan. Stakeholders, especially in western Sudan are advised to take the appropriate measures to protect lives and livelihoods.

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall (top 10 to 5% on record) 100 to more than 200 mm is expected in parts of western Darfur, Kasala, and Gedaref in Sudan; Tigray, eastern Amhara, and southern Afar in Ethiopia; and Gash-Barka, Debub, and Maakel regions in Eritrea.
  • Moderate rainfall between 50 - 100 mm is expected over southern Sudan, western South Sudan, parts of central and northern Ethiopia, western Kenya, and parts of northern Uganda.
  • Light rainfall less than 30 mm is expected over central to northern Sudan, parts of south-eastern South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, northern and southern coastal regions of Somalia, western and coastal Kenya, much of Uganda, Rwanda, and few places in southern Tanzania.
  • Dry conditions are expected in Burundi, much of Tanzania, eastern and northern Kenya, central Somalia, southern Ethiopia. These regions are normally dry during this season.
