Temperature
Temperature Anomalies
- Warmer than normal temperatures expected in most parts of Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, northern and southern parts of Somalia, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, much of Ethiopia, southern Uganda, and Tanzania.
- Cooler than normal temperatures expected in north-eastern South Sudan, southern Sudan, and isolated areas in Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania.
Mean Temperature
- Hot conditions with temperatures above 32 ℃ expected over parts of Sudan and north-eastern Ethiopia.
- Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ expected over South Sudan, most parts of Sudan, Uganda, eastern and northern Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti; western, southern and eastern parts of Ethiopia; Eritrea, and most parts of Tanzania.
- Relatively cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ expected in parts of central to northern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, and few areas in central Tanzania.
Exceptional Rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5%) rainfall expected over cross-border areas of Ethiopia and Somalia, and isolated areas in southern Kenya.
Rainfall Anomalies
- More than normal rainfall expected over southern Sudan, northern South Sudan, western and southern Ethiopia, central Somalia, Rwanda, few areas in southern Kenya, and northern Tanzania.
- Less than normal rainfall expected over most parts of Kenya, Uganda, southern South Sudan, south-eastern Tanzania, central Ethiopia, and northern Somalia.
Total Rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (more than 100 mm) expected over central Somalia, few areas in south-western Ethiopia, and south-western Kenya.
- Moderate rainfall (50-100 mm) expected over southern areas of Ethiopia, South Sudan, isolated areas in Uganda, and Tanzania.
- Light rainfall (less than 30 mm) expected over southern Sudan, parts of southern South Sudan, western and central Ethiopia, northern and southern parts of Somalia, and northern and eastern Tanzania.
- Dry conditions expected over much of Sudan, Eritrea, northern Ethiopia, Djibouti, parts of eastern Kenya and isolated regions in central Tanzania.
