Rainfall
Temperature
Exceptional rainfall
- Rainfall amounts exceeding the top 10% and 5% on record expected over Burundi, and central to eastern Tanzania.
Flood
- The expected very heavy rainfall over a few places in parts of Burundi, and central to eastern Tanzania is likely to lead to isolated flood incidences.
- Communities in high-risk areas are advised to exercise caution during this period.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over most parts of Tanzania and Burundi.
- Less than usual rainfall expected over central to southern Somalia, Uganda and Kenya, western and northern Tanzania.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, central and northern Somalia, central to western Kenya and Uganda.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected over parts of central to northern Sudan and cross-border areas of South Sudan and Ethiopia.
Mean temperatures
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over South Sudan, central to southern Sudan, central to northern Uganda, Tanzania, northern and eastern Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, and most parts of Eritrea.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over parts of northern and western Sudan, central to southern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, southern Uganda, western Rwanda and most parts of Burundi.
Heat Stress
- Cautionary heat stress levels expected in regions of eastern Kenya, southern and eastern Sudan, coastal and southern Tanzania, and central to southern Somalia.
Total rainfall
- Heavy Rainfall (greater than 200mm) expected over parts of central Tanzania.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over cross-border regions of South Sudan and Ethiopia, northern and southern coastal Somalia, coastal regions of the Red Sea and southern Uganda.
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over most parts of Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, southern and coastal Kenya.
