Rainfall
Temperature
Exceptional rainfall
- Very Heavy Rainfall (exceeding top 5% on record) expected over few places in Ethiopia, central parts of Sudan, and western Eritrea.
- Heavy Rainfall (amounts exceeding the top 10% on record) expected over central to northern Ethiopia, few places across South Sudan, southern to central Sudan, northern Uganda, and localized areas in western Kenya.
Floods Update
- The expected very heavy rainfall over few places in Ethiopia, central parts of Sudan, and western Eritrea is likely to lead to flooding in these areas.
- Communities in the areas at risk are advised to exercise caution during this period.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over parts of northern, central and a few regions in southern Sudan, parts of central to western Ethiopia, western Eritrea, central to eastern South Sudan, central to northern Uganda and western Kenya.
- Less than usual rainfall expected over parts of southern Sudan, north-western South Sudan, central Ethiopia and a few areas in southern coastal Somalia.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected over western and localized areas in central Sudan.
Mean temperatures
- High temperatures (above 32℃) expected over central to northern Sudan, Djibouti, coastal Eritrea, north-eastern Ethiopia, and parts of northern coastal Somalia.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over South Sudan, Somalia, southern Sudan, most parts of Uganda, eastern and northern Kenya, south-eastern Ethiopia, western Eritrea and eastern and north-western Tanzania.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over Rwanda, Burundi, south-western Uganda, parts of south-western to northern Tanzania, central to south-western Kenya and central to southern Ethiopia.
Heat Stress
- Elevated levels of heat stress expected in central to northern Sudan, parts of Eritrea, Djibouti and north-western Somalia.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (above 200mm) expected over areas in central to western Ethiopia, and isolated areas in western and southern Sudan.
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over most parts of South Sudan, central to western Ethiopia, western Eritrea, central to southern and isolated areas in northern Sudan, central to northern Uganda and western Kenya.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected in central to northern Sudan, south-eastern South Sudan, central Uganda, coastal Kenya, parts of northern and southern Somalia, part of eastern Ethiopia, and parts of eastern Tanzania.
