Temperature
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (exceeding the top 10% on record) expected in the eastern South Sudan into south-western Ethiopia and western Kenya.
Floods Update
- The expected heavy rainfall likely to lead to flooding in flood-prone areas of eastern South Sudan into south-western Ethiopia and western Kenya.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over most parts of southern Sudan, northern and eastern South Sudan, western Ethiopia, northern Uganda and western Kenya.
- Less than usual rainfall expected in parts of western South Sudan, central to southern Uganda, central Ethiopia, and southern coastal regions of Somalia.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures predicted over most parts of the GHA.
- Cooler than usual temperatures predicted over eastern parts of South Sudan.
Mean temperatures
- High temperatures (above 32℃) expected over most parts of Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, north-eastern Ethiopia, and parts of north-western Somalia.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts of South Sudan, southern Sudan, Somalia, eastern and northern Kenya, central to northern Uganda, and southern and north-western Tanzania.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over Rwanda, Burundi, and parts of central to southern Tanzania, central to western Kenya and central to southern Ethiopia.
Heat Stress
- Highest levels of heat stress expected in eastern and central regions of Sudan.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over most parts of South Sudan, western Ethiopia, southern Sudan, and parts of western Kenya.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected in central to southern Sudan, central to northern Uganda, western Kenya, parts of central to eastern Ethiopia, and coastal regions of Somalia.
