Temperature
Exceptional rainfall
- Rainfall amounts exceeding the top 10% on record expected over parts of central Somalia, south-eastern Ethiopia, isolated areas in northen kenya, and part of western Tanzania.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over most parts of northern Uganda, southern South Sudan, central Somalia, central to western Tanzania, parts of northern Kenya, and southern Ethiopia
- Less than usual rainfall expected over southern Kenya, southern Somalia, south-western Uganda, northern Tanzania and most parts of Rwanda and Burundi.
Floods
- The expected very heavy rainfall over a few places in central Somalia and western Tanzania is likely to lead to isolated flood incidences.
- Communities in high-risk areas are advised to exercise caution during this period.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the Greater Horn of Africa (GHA) region.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected over parts of north-western Sudan.
Mean temperatures
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea, and eastern and southern Ethiopia.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over parts of north-western Sudan, northern to southern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, and western parts of Rwanda and Burundi.
Heat Stress
- Cautionary heat stress levels expected in eastern regions of Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, Sudan, and parts of southern Somalia.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, southern South Sudan, western Tanzania, parts of western and central Kenya, central Somalia, and south-eastern and south-western Ethiopia
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over parts of southern and north-eastern Tanzania, most parts of Kenya, southern Ethiopia, and northern and southern Somalia.
