Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected in Eritrea, Djibouti, northern Somalia, Ethiopia, southern and eastern Sudan, most parts of South Sudan, western Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and most parts of Tanzania.
- Cooler than usual temperatures predicted over parts of central to northern Sudan, eastern Kenya, and some parts of coastal Somalia.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than usual conditions expected over parts of southern South Sudan, central to southern Ethiopia, central to southern Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, northern parts of Burundi, and isolated areas in western Tanzania.
- Drier than usual conditions forecasted over south-eastern Kenya and most parts of Tanzania.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5%) rainfall is expected in several parts of the region including central to southern Somalia, south-eastern and southern Ethiopia, most parts of central to northern Kenya, south-western Uganda, Rwanda, and parts of western Tanzania.
Mean temperatures
- Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ expected over southern and eastern parts of Sudan, Djibouti, most parts of Eritrea, South Sudan, central to northern Uganda, northern and eastern Kenya, and most parts of Tanzania, and Somalia.
- Cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ expected in central to northern Sudan, southern to northern Ethiopia, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, central to western Kenya, and a few places in northern Somalia.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over Rwanda, Burundi, central to western Tanzania, south-western and central to northern Kenya, isolated parts of southern Ethiopia, and central to southern Somalia.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over parts of southern South Sudan, central to southern Ethiopia, isolated parts in coastal Eritrea and Sudan, central to northern Somalia, south-eastern Kenya, and central to eastern Tanzania.
- Dry conditions expected over most parts of Sudan, northern South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, parts of northern Ethiopia, and parts of northern Somalia.
