Temperature
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over parts of northern South Sudan, western Ethiopia and eastern Tanzania.
- Less than usual rainfall expected most parts of Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and southern regions of South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia.
Exceptional rainfall
- Rainfall exceeding the 90th percentile expected over isolated places in northern Kenya, and eastern Tanzania.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected over parts of northern Sudan, eastern parts of South Sudan into western Ethiopia and other highland areas across the GHA.
Mean temperatures
- Elevated temperatures exceeding 32℃ expected over parts of eastern South Sudan, Afar region in Ethiopia and southern regions of Sudan.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected most of the highlands across the GHA.
Heat Stress
- Elevated heat stress within the ‘extreme caution category expected over most parts of South Sudan, eastern parts of Kenya and Tanzania, southern to central Somalia, north-eastern Somalia, coastal regions of Eritrea and southern regions of Sudan.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over most parts of Rwanda, Burundi, eastern Tanzania, south-western Ethiopia and northern South Sudan.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over most parts of Tanzania, South Sudan, eastern and southern Kenya, southern and northern Somalia, southern to western Uganda, southern Sudan, and western Ethiopia.
