Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than normal temperatures expected in Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, and most parts of Ethiopia, western Kenya, and central Tanzania.
- Cooler than normal temperatures expected in a few regions of southern Tanzania, northern Kenya, northern South Sudan, and isolated regions in central and western Ethiopia.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than normal rainfall expected over southern Sudan, northern and western South Sudan, Rwanda, and a few regions in western Ethiopia.
- Less than normal rainfall expected over Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, southern Ethiopia, southern South Sudan, and eastern Tanzania.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy (top 10%) rainfall expected over a few areas in northern South Sudan and central Somalia.
Mean temperature
- Hot conditions (above 32 ℃) expected over central to eastern Sudan, north-eastern Ethiopia, and parts of Eritrea, and Djibouti.
- Moderate temperatures (20 - 32 ℃) expected over Somalia, northern and eastern Kenya, eastern and northern Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, eastern and northern Ethiopia, western and eastern Sudan and most parts of Eritrea and Djibouti.
- Cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected in parts of central to northern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and central to southern Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (more than 100 mm) expected over a few areas of northern South Sudan.
- Moderate rainfall (50-100 mm) expected over northern to western South Sudan, and a few areas in western Ethiopia, and Rwanda.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over northern Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda, western Kenya, central to southern Somalia, eastern and southern South Sudan, southern and western Ethiopia, and southern Sudan.
- Dry conditions expected over much of Sudan, Eritrea, northern and eastern Ethiopia, Djibouti, northern Somalia, eastern and northern Kenya, and central to southern Tanzania.
