Temperature
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (90th percentile) expected in southern parts of Tanzania.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than usual conditions are expected over isolated areas in southern Tanzania and Ethiopia.
- Drier than usual conditions are expected in Burundi, Rwanda, southern Uganda, southern Kenya and most parts of Tanzania
- Parts of southern Tanzania is likely to flood due to the heavy rainfall expected in the region.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures predicted over most parts of the region.
Mean temperatures
- High temperatures (above 32℃) expected over most parts South Sudan, southern Sudan and a few regions in western Ethiopia and northern Kenya.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts of Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Sudan.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over parts of central to western Kenya, central Ethiopia, and isolated areas in western Burundi, western Rwanda, southern Tanzania and northern Somalia.
Heat Stress
- Elevated levels of heat stress are expected in eastern Tanzania, eastern and northern Kenya, central to southern Somalia, most parts of South Sudan and southern Sudan.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over southern parts of Tanzania and western parts of both Burundi and Rwanda.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected in central to northern Tanzania, central to southern Kenya, central parts of Ethiopia, south-western Uganda and isolated areas in Somalia and South Sudan.
- Dry conditions expected over Sudan, central to northern Kenya, central to northern Uganda and most parts of South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia.
