Temperature
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over most parts of Rwanda, Burundi, eastern Tanzania, and parts of central and northern South Sudan.
- Less than usual rainfall expected over most parts of Uganda, south-eastern South Sudan, central to southern Ethiopia, western Kenya, and most parts of Somalia.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the GHA, with parts of northern and eastern Sudan, north-eastern Ethiopia, and most parts of Djibouti and Eritrea recording anomalies greater than 2.5 Degrees Celsius.
- Rainfall exceeding the 90th percentile (the highest 10% on record)over a few areas in central Somalia, central Kenya, and eastern Tanzania.
Mean temperatures
- High temperatures (> 32℃) expected in most parts of Sudan, western Eritrea and north-eastern Ethiopia.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over Rwanda, Burundi, parts of central and south-western Tanzania, central to western Kenya, south-western Uganda and the Ethiopian highlands.
Heat Stress
- Elevated heat stress levels expected in most parts of South Sudan, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Afar region in Ethiopia, and eastern Kenya.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected in most parts of Rwanda, Burundi, central to western region of South Sudan, central Kenya, parts of central Somalia, western Ethiopia and eastern regions of Tanzania.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over most parts of Uganda, Tanzania, eastern and western Kenya, central to southern Somalia, southern Ethiopia, southern Sudan, and southern regions of South Sudan.
