Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than normal temperatures expected in the region except in isolated parts of eastern South Sudan, central to southern Ethiopia, central and western Kenya, and western Tanzania where cooler than normal temperatures are expected.
Rainfall anomalies
- Wetter than average conditions expected over southern Sudan, South Sudan, western Ethiopia, northern Uganda and a few areas in western Kenya and southern coastal Somalia.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5%) rainfall expected over cross-border regions of eastern South Sudan, western Ethiopia, and south-eastern Sudan.
Mean temperature
- Hot conditions (above 32 ℃) expected over central and eastern Sudan, Afar region in north-eastern Ethiopia, parts of Eritrea, Djibouti, and northern Somalia.
- Moderate temperatures (20 - 32 ℃) expected over southern, western and coastal Sudan, South Sudan, northern Uganda, south-eastern Ethiopia, Somalia, northern and eastern Kenya, central to northern Uganda, and parts of western and eastern Tanzania.
- Cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected in parts of central to southern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and parts of central and southern Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over South Sudan, southern Sudan, western Ethiopia, and parts of northern Uganda and western Kenya.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over southern Sudan, Eritrea, parts of central to north-eastern Ethiopia, northern and southern Somalia, much of Uganda, western and parts of eastern Kenya, and parts of coastal and southern Tanzania.
- Dry conditions expected over northern Sudan, Djibouti, north-eastern and south-eastern Ethiopia, central Somalia, northern and south eastern Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and most parts of Tanzania.
