Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than normal temperatures expected in most parts of Ethiopia, Djibouti, Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania as well as northern Somalia and south-eastern South Sudan.
- Cooler than normal temperatures expected over Sudan, western South Sudan, north-western Eritrea, southern Somalia, and coastal regions of Kenya.
Mean temperatures
- Hot conditions (above 32 ℃) expected in the border regions of eastern South Sudan, south-western Ethiopia, and north-western Kenya.
- Moderate temperatures (between 20 - 32 ℃) expected over southern Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, eastern and northern Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, most parts of Ethiopia, and Eritrea.
- Relatively cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected in northern Sudan, parts of central Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, and a few regions in northern Somalia, western Eritrea, southern Tanzania, and western Rwanda and Burundi.
No exceptional rainfall expected.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than normal rainfall expected over a few regions in central to southern Ethiopia, and Burundi.
- Less than normal rainfall expected over Tanzania, central to southern Kenya, and parts of southern Uganda and Rwanda.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-100mm) expected in a few regions of southern Tanzania, central Burundi, and western Rwanda.
- Light rainfall (less than 30 mm) expected over central to south-western Ethiopia, and most parts of Uganda and Tanzania.
- Dry conditions expected in Sudan, central to northern South Sudan, Eritrea, northern and eastern Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, eastern, northern, and western Ethiopia, and western regions of Eritrea.
