Temperature
Exceptional rainfall
- Rainfall amounts exceeding the top 10% on record expected over north-western Kenya, most parts of Ethiopia, north-western Somalia, eastern and north-western South Sudan, south-western and south-eastern Sudan, and western Eritrea.
Floods Update
- The expected very heavy rainfall over few places in north-western Kenya, most parts of Ethiopia, north-western Somalia, eastern and north-western South Sudan, south-western and south-eastern Sudan, and western Eritrea is likely to lead to flooding..
- Communities in the areas at risk are advised to exercise caution during this period.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over parts of central to north-western Kenya, south-eastern and north-western South Sudan, south-western to northern Ethiopia, western Eritrea, and northern Somalia.
- Less than usual rainfall expected over central Sudan, northern and south-western South Sudan, a small area in western Kenya, and isolated areas in central to northern Ethiopia.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected over part of eastern South Sudan and north-eastern Somalia.
Mean temperatures
- High temperatures (above 32℃) expected over most parts of central to northern Sudan, north-eastern Ethiopia, Djibouti, parts of Eritrea and north-western Somalia.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts of central to southern Sudan, South Sudan, western Eritrea, Somalia, Uganda, eastern and northern Kenya, south-eastern Ethiopia, eastern and north-western Tanzania, and eastern Rwanda.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over western Rwanda, Burundi, parts of northern to southern Tanzania, central to south-western Kenya and central to southern and northern Ethiopia.
Heat Stress
- Elevated levels of heat stress expected in north-central Sudan, north-eastern Ethiopia and coastal Eritrea.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (above 200mm) expected over areas in central to northern Ethiopia and south-western Sudan.
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over most parts of Ethiopia, western Kenya, central to northern Uganda, South Sudan, southern Sudan, and western Eritrea.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected in central Sudan, south-eastern Ethiopia, most parts of Somalia, Djibouti, coastal Eritrea, few areas in western and north-western Kenya, and central to southern Uganda.
