Temperature
Mean Temperature
- Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ are expected in southern Sudan, South Sudan, much of Uganda; eastern and northern Kenya, much of Somalia, Djibouti, coastal Eritrea; south-eastern and north-eastern Ethiopia, and most places over Tanzania.
- Relatively cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ are expected in much of Sudan, parts of central Ethiopia, western Eritrea, parts of northern Somalia, Rwanda and Burundi; central to western Kenya, and a few areas in Tanzania and south-western Uganda.
Temperature Anomalies
- Warmer than average temperatures are expected in most areas of Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Somalia.
- Colder than average temperatures are expected in Sudan, South Sudan, northern Uganda; western and southern Tanzania, and isolated places in Kenya and southern Ethiopia.
Exceptional Rainfall
- Heavy to Very Rainfall (top 10-5%) is expected in several places of Tanzania; especially in Mtwara, Lindi, and northern Kigoma; and northern Turkana in north-western Kenya.
Rainfall Anomalies
- Enhanced rainfall is expected in much of Tanzania, eastern Rwanda and Burundi, western regions of Kenya, south-western Ethiopia, and northern Uganda.
- Depressed rainfall is expected in a few regions over south-western Tanzania.
Total Rainfall
- Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in most parts of Tanzania with a few areas in Lindi, Mtwara, and northern Kigoma are expected to receive above 200mm rainfall.
- Light rainfall of less than 30 mm is expected in western South Sudan, most parts of Uganda; western and southern Kenya; south-western to parts of northern Ethiopia, and coastal regions of Eritrea.
- Dry conditions are expected in Sudan, northern South Sudan, western Eritrea, north-western and eastern Ethiopia, much of Somalia, and eastern Kenya.
