Temperature
Exceptional rainfall
- Rainfall amounts exceeding the top 10% on record expected over northern Somalia and adjacent areas in Ethiopia.
Floods Update
- The expected very heavy rainfall over few places in parts of northern Somalia and adjacent areas in Ethiopia is likely to lead to floods.
- Communities in the areas at risk are advised to exercise caution during this period.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over northern Somalia, few areas in western Ethiopia, southern Sudan, south-western Kenya, and north-eastern Tanzania.
- Less than usual rainfall expected over most parts of South Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda, and central Somalia.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected over northern Somalia and other isolated areas across the GHA.
Mean temperatures
- High temperatures (above 32℃) expected over parts of Sudan and north-eastern Ethiopia.
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over South Sudan, Uganda, Somalia, northern and eastern Kenya, north-eastern and south-eastern Ethiopia, most parts of Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, most parts of Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over parts of northern to southern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, central Tanzania and parts of western regions of Rwanda and Burundi.
Heat Stress
- Elevated levels of heat stress expected in most parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, northern Somalia and north-eastern Ethiopia.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over parts of northern Somalia, central to western Ethiopia, southern Sudan, north-western South Sudan, few areas in central and western Kenya, south-western Uganda, and northern coastal Tanzania.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected in north-western, central and southern Somalia, southern and eastern Kenya, most parts of Ethiopia, South Sudan, central and eastern Sudan, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, eastern and northern Tanzania.
