Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than normal temperatures expected in Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, central to eastern Kenya, most parts of Tanzania, central to eastern Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Burundi.
- Cooler than normal temperatures expected in northern Sudan, South Sudan, and northern Uganda.
Rainfall anomalies
- More than normal rainfall expected over South Sudan, Uganda, western Kenya, western Ethiopia, and isolated areas in Somalia and Tanzania.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5 %) rainfall expected over eastern South Sudan, western Kenya, and isolated regions in south-western Ethiopia, and eastern Uganda.
Mean temperature
- Hot conditions with temperatures above 32 ℃ expected over south-eastern Sudan, north-eastern Ethiopia, parts of Eritrea, and Djibouti.
- Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ expected over South Sudan, most of Sudan, parts of Eritrea, eastern and southern Ethiopia, Somalia, eastern and northern Kenya, central to northern Uganda, and western and coastal Tanzania.
- Cold conditions with temperatures less than 20 ℃ expected in parts of central to northern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, southern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and parts of central to southern Tanzania.
Total rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (greater than 100 mm) expected over much of South Sudan, northern Uganda, isolated areas in western Ethiopia, and western Kenya.
- Moderate rainfall (50-100 mm) expected over southern Sudan, Rwanda, northern Tanzania around Lake Victoria, and isolated areas in western Ethiopia.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over Burundi, Somalia, coastal and western Kenya, coastal and western Tanzania, central to eastern Ethiopia, and southern Sudan.
- Dry conditions expected over northern Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, north-eastern Ethiopia, eastern and northern Kenya, and parts of central Tanzania.
