Temperature
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than average temperatures expected in most areas of Djibouti, Ethiopia, northern Somalia, eastern Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
- Colder than average temperatures expected in Sudan, western South Sudan, parts of eastern Kenya, and other isolated regions within the Greater Horn of Africa.
Mean temperature
- Moderate temperatures (between 20 - 32 ℃) expected in southern Sudan, South Sudan, much of Uganda, eastern and northern Kenya, much of Somalia, Djibouti, coastal Eritrea, south-eastern and north-eastern Ethiopia, and most places in Tanzania.
- Relatively cold conditions (less than 20℃) expected in most parts of Sudan, central Ethiopia, western Eritrea, and in some areas of northern Somalia, Rwanda, Burundi, central to western Kenya, Tanzania, and south-western Uganda.
Exceptional rainfall
- Heavy to very rainfall (top 10-5%) expected over the Lindi and Ruvuma regions of southern Tanzania.
Rainfall anomalies
- Heavier than usual rainfall expected over the southern and eastern regions of Tanzania.
- Lighter than usual rainfall expected over northern Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.
Headline: Heavier than usual rainfall expected in southern Tanzania whilst most of east Africa remains dry. Moderate temperatures, in the range of 20-32 ℃, expected across the regions.
Total Rainfall
- Moderate to heavy rainfall expected in southern Tanzania, especially over the Lindi and Ruvuma regions. Moderate rainfall forecasted over central and western Tanzania, and eastern Burundi.
- Light rainfall expected in coastal parts of Eritrea and Sudan, Burundi, and parts of central Tanzania.
- Dry conditions expected in Sudan, South Sudan, western Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya, Uganda, eastern Rwanda, and northern Tanzania.
