Temperature
Temperature Anomalies
- Warmer than normal temperatures expected in Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, northern Ethiopia, and much of central and southern Tanzania.
- Cooler than normal temperatures expected in South Sudan and parts of northern Uganda, western Tanzania, and western Ethiopia.
Mean Temperature
- Hot conditions with temperatures above 32 ℃ expected over parts of Sudan and north-eastern Ethiopia.
- Moderate temperatures between 20 - 32 ℃ expected over South Sudan, Uganda, eastern and northern Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti; western, southern and eastern parts of Ethiopia; Eritrea, and most parts of Tanzania.
- Relatively cold conditions with temperatures less than 20℃ expected in parts of central to northern Ethiopia, central to western Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, and few areas in south-western Tanzania.
Exceptional Rainfall
- Heavy to very heavy (top 10-5%) rainfall expected over cross border areas of Ethiopia, South Sudan, Kenya,
Somalia, and isolated areas in western Kenya, northern Tanzania and north-eastern Uganda .
Rainfall Anomalies
- More than normal rainfall expected over southern Sudan, South Sudan, western and southern Ethiopia, Somalia, northern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, northern Tanzania, and few areas in western Kenya.
- Less than normal rainfall expected over eastern parts of Kenya, parts of south-eastern Uganda, and eastern and southern parts of Tanzania.
Total Rainfall
- Heavy rainfall (more than 100 mm) expected over central Somalia, few areas in south-eastern and southern Ethiopia, isolated areas in north-western Tanzania, and western Kenya.
- Moderate rainfall (50-100 mm) expected over southern areas of Ethiopia, South Sudan, most parts of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, northern Tanzania, and western Kenya.
- Light rainfall (less than 30 mm) expected over southern Sudan, parts of northern South Sudan, central Ethiopia, northern and southern parts of Somalia, eastern and northern Kenya, and central to southern Tanzania.
- Dry conditions expected over much of Sudan, Eritrea, northern Ethiopia, Djibouti, parts of eastern Kenya, and isolated regions in central Tanzania.
