Weekly Forecast
At ICPAC we use the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF) to produce our forecasts in a resolution of 10 x 10 Km. Our weekly forecasts are very popular and help stakeholders prepare for extreme weather, and mitigate risks associated with floods, drought or heavy rainfall.

Temperature
Rainfall anomalies
- More than usual rainfall expected over parts of eastern Kenya and southern Somalia.
- Less than usual rainfall expected over most parts of Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya.
Temperature anomalies
- Warmer than usual temperatures expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Cooler than usual temperatures expected over parts of north-eastern Kenya.
- Rainfall exceeding the 90th percentile expected over most parts of north-eastern Kenya.
Mean temperatures
- Moderate to high temperatures (20-32℃) expected over most parts of the GHA.
- Mild temperature conditions (less than 20℃) expected over western regions of Burundi and Rwanda, central to western Kenya, central to northern Ethiopia, parts of northern Somalia, western Eritrea and north-western Sudan.
Heat Stress
- Elevated heat stress levels expected in eastern Tanzania, eastern Kenya, southern Somalia, most parts of South Sudan and parts of southern Sudan.
Total rainfall
- Moderate rainfall (50-200mm) expected over Burundi, western Rwanda, western Tanzania, eastern Kenya and parts of southern Somalia.
- Light rainfall (less than 50 mm) expected over central South Sudan, south-western Uganda, northern and eastern Tanzania, central to eastern Kenya, southern Ethiopia and most parts of Somalia.
