Rainfall
- Moderate to heavy rainfall between 200 - 500 mm observed in isolated parts of western Ethiopia, western and central parts of Kenya, and northern coast of Tanzania.
- Moderate rainfall between 100 - 200 mm observed in much of South Sudan, Uganda, several parts of western and southern Ethiopia, western, central and coastal Kenya, isolated parts of southeast Somalia, most of Rwanda, north, and western Burundi, northwest and coastal Tanzania.
- Light rainfall between 50 - 100 mm observed in southern parts of Sudan, isolated parts of north-central and southeastern South Sudan, central and eastern parts Ethiopia, several parts of central and southern Somalia, southwest Uganda, and a few parts of northwest and northeast Tanzania.
- Rainfall range 10-50 mm observed over marginal areas in southern parts of Sudan, in western and central Eritrea, northeast Ethiopia, northeast and southwest Somalia extending to northeast Kenya, and southern Tanzania.
- Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) in most parts of Sudan, northern and eastern arts of Kenya, and central and western parts of Tanzania.
- Much wetter than usual conditions observed in southeast Sudan, northern Ethiopia, isolated parts of south-central Kenya and in isolate part in northwest Tanzania.
- Wetter than usual conditions observed in much of southeast Sudan, parts of northern Ethiopia, southern Eritrea, most of Djibouti and Rwanda, parts of north and western Burundi, northeast South Sudan, northwest, central and southern Kenya, and in northern parts of Tanzania.
- Usual rainfall conditions observed over several parts of South Sudan, Eritrea, central and southern Ethiopia, Somalia, Uganda, western Kenya, and most of Tanzania.
- Moderately drier than usual conditions observed in central parts of Eritrea, north east Somalia, southwest and central Uganda, eastern and coastal Kenya, and isolated parts of central and southwest Tanzania
- Much drier than usual conditions was not observed over the month of May 2021
- Moderately wetter to severely wettest than usual conditions observed over parts of southeast Sudan extending to northwest Ethiopia and northeast South Sudan, several parts of Djibouti, southern parts of Eritrea, northeast, central and south-central parts of Kenya, western Rwanda, western Burundi and in isolated parts of northern Tanzania.
