Observed rainfall conditions for December 2021
Rainfall
- Moderate to heavy rainfall between 200 - 500 mm was observed in southern part of Burundi and northwest Tanzania.
- Moderate rainfall between 100 - 200 mm observed in southwestern of Uganda; central and eastern Kenya, northern Burundi, over several parts of Rwanda; and in western, and central coastal parts of Tanzania.
- Light rainfall between 10 - 100 mm observed over southwestern Ethiopia, southeastern parts of South Sudan, northwest, west, central and southeastern Uganda, several parts of western central, and northeastern Kenya, and in central and southern Tanzania.
- Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) in most of Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, over much of Ethiopia, northern and central Somalia, northern Uganda and northern Kenya.
- Wetter than usual conditions observed in a few areas in south-west Uganda, eastern Kenya, south-west Somalia and north-west Tanzania.
- Usual rainfall conditions were observed over a few parts in central and southern Uganda, in western parts of Kenya and over much of Rwanda and northern Burundi.
- Moderately drier than usual conditions observed in southern parts of South Sudan, central and southern Ethiopia; northwest and southeast Uganda; in central and north-eastern parts of Kenya; and in western and central parts of Tanzania.
- Much drier than usual conditions observed in northeast Uganda extending to north-west of Kenya, south-west Ethiopia, in southern parts of Somalia and in central to southern parts of Tanzania.
- Moderately wetter than usual to severely wet conditions were observed in south-west Uganda, southern Burundi, eastern Kenya extending to southeast Somalia, and in northwest Tanzania.
- Usual rainfall conditions were observed in most of Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, northern, western and central Ethiopia; central and southeast Uganda; much of Rwanda, northern Burundi; western, central and southern Kenya and in some areas in northern Tanzania.
- Moderately drier than usual to severely dry conditions were observed in southern South Sudan extending to northern and eastern Uganda. North-western Kenya and much of central and southern parts of Tanzania will experience the same. Eastern Ethiopia; northern and central Somalia to experience extended extremely dry conditions.
