Observed rainfall conditions for January 2023
Rainfall
Moderate to heavy rainfall of over 200 mm was observed in a western and southwestern parts of Tanzania.
Moderate rainfall between 100 - 200 mm observed in southern parts of Burundi and in northwestern, central and southeastern Tanzania.
Light rainfall between 10 - 100 mm observed in a few areas in northern coast and central Eritrea, in parts of northeastern and southeastern Ethiopia, in southern parts of Uganda, in western and southern parts of Kenya, in several parts of Rwanda, in northern Burundi, and in northern parts of Tanzania
Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) in much of Sudan, South Sudan, in several parts of Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, in northern Uganda, and in northern eastern and central parts of Kenya.
Drier than usual and much drier than usual conditions observed in several parts of Eritrea, Ethiopia, southern parts of South Sudan, in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, and in northern parts of Tanzania.
No rainfall Conditions was observed in much of Sudan, South Sudan, southwestern Eritrea, in northeastern and eastern Ethiopia, in much of Somalia, and in northeastern and northwestern Kenya.
Usual rainfall conditions observed over southern Burundi, and in northwestern, western, southern and southeastern Tanzania.
Moderately dry to severely dry conditions were observed several parts of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, in northern and southeastern parts of Kenya, and in a few areas in northeastern and southern Tanzania.
Moderately wet to severely wet conditions were observed in in a few areas in western Uganda, western Kenya and in wester and northwestern Tanzania.
Usual rainfall conditions much of the rest of the region recorded no rainfall or usual rainfall condition.
