Observed rainfall conditions for June 2021
Rainfall
- Moderate to heavy rainfall between 200 - 500 mm observed in western Ethiopia, and western South Sudan.
- Moderate rainfall between 100 - 200 mm observed in much of northern, central and south-western South Sudan, southern parts of Sudan, eastern margins of western Ethiopia, and in isolated parts of north-western Uganda and western highlands of Kenya.
- Light rainfall between 50 - 100 mm observed in southern parts of Sudan, south-eastern South Sudan, south-western Eritrea, central parts Ethiopia, several parts of northern and south-eastern Uganda, western and coastal parts of Kenya, and isolated part of south-eastern Somalia.
- Rainfall range 10-50 mm observed over marginal areas in southern parts of central Sudan, in western Eritrea, eastern Ethiopia, south-eastern South Sudan, several parts of south-western and north-eastern Uganda, in marginal areas eastern of western Kenya, coastal Kenya, and south-western Somalia.
- Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) in most parts of north and central Sudan, over several parts of Djibouti, north-eastern and southern Ethiopia, over several parts of central, north and south-western Somalia, northern, eastern, central and south-central parts of Kenya; over much of Rwanda and Burundi, and in several parts of Tanzania.
- Much wetter than usual conditions observed in south-eastern Sudan and in isolated parts in western Eritrea.
- Wetter than usual conditions observed in much of southern parts of Sudan, and north-western and north-eastern parts of South Sudan.
- Usual rainfall conditions observed over south-western Eritrea, north and western parts of South Sudan, western Ethiopia, isolated parts in south-central and western Sudan, north-western and south-eastern Uganda, and isolated parts of western highlands of Kenya.
- Moderately drier than usual conditions observed in central parts of Eritrea; east, central and south-western Ethiopia; northern and southern Somalia, southern parts of South Sudan, several parts of Uganda; north-western, central and coastal Kenya; western Burundi, and in northern and eastern parts of Tanzania.
- Much drier than usual conditions was observed over several parts of Rwanda extending to south-western part of Uganda in the month of May 2021.
- Moderately wetter than usual to severely wet conditions observed over southern parts of Sudan, north-western and north-eastern South Sudan, and in isolated parts of north-western Ethiopia and western Eritrea.
- Usual rainfall conditions observed in western parts of Eritrea, west-central and north-central of South Sudan, western and northern margins of Ethiopia, and in isolated parts of western highlands of Kenya.
- Moderately drier than usual to severely dry conditions observed in central parts of Eritrea, southern parts of South Sudan, northern and southern parts of Somalia, in several parts of central, eastern and south-western Ethiopia, most of Uganda, Rwanda, in western parts of Burundi, and in central, western, and coastal parts of Kenya.
