Observed climate conditions for May to July (MJJ) 2025
Rainfall

Moderate to high rainfall amounts of exceeding 500mm was observed in a few areas in western of Ethiopia, in northwestern South Sudan, and in part of western Kenya.
Moderate rainfall amounts of between 201-500mm were observed in southern parts of Sudan, in northwestern, and western Ethiopia, in much of South Sudan and Uganda, and in western and coastal Kenya.
Light rainfall between 11 - 200 mm was observed in several parts of Eritrea, in western to eastern Sudan, in northeastern, central, eastern and southern Ethiopia, in much of Somalia, in southwestern Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, in northwestern, central and southeastern Kenya, and in northern eastern and southern Tanzania.
No rainfall or less than 10mm was observed in northern Sudan, central Tanzania, and parts of eastern Kenya.

Moderately dry to severely dry conditions were observed in southern parts of Sudan, in several parts of South Sudan, Ethiopia and Djibouti, in northern and central Somalia, and in coastal and southern Eritrea.
Moderate wet to severely wet rainfall conditions were observed in southwestern Ethiopia, in southern parts of Uganda, in western Kenya, and in northwestern, southern and eastern Tanzania.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in the rest of the region.

Drier than usual conditions were observed northern and southeastern Sudan, in Djibouti, in eastern Ethiopia extending to northern and central Somalia.
Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in parts of northern, western and southern Tanzania, and in areas around eastern and western Lake Victoria.
No rain condition was observed in the northern parts of Sudan.
Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.
