Recent rainfall totals

Moderate to heavy rainfall (500 - 1000 mm) was observed in south-western and south-eastern parts of Sudan, western South Sudan, north-western and western parts of Ethiopia, and parts of the western highlands of Kenya.

Moderate rainfall between (200 - 500 mm) was observed over much of the southern parts of Sudan, northeastern, eastern, central and southern South Sudan, western Eritrea, parts of north-eastern and central Ethiopia, several parts of north and central eastern Uganda, and western parts of Kenya.

Light rainfall (10 - 200 mm) was observed in western to eastern parts of Sudan, coastal, central, and southern parts of Eritrea, several parts of Djibouti, parts of north-eastern, eastern, and southern Ethiopia, north-western and southern parts of Somalia, central and coastal parts of Kenya, much of the south-western parts of Uganda, several parts of Rwanda, northern Burundi, and parts of north-western and eastern Tanzania.

Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) were observed in the northern part of Sudan, parts of eastern Ethiopia, northern, and central Somalia, northern, eastern, and south-central parts of Kenya, and much of the rest of Tanzania.

Recent rainfall anomalies

Wetter than usual conditions were observed in western and eastern parts of Sudan, north-western and central Eritrea, and several parts of Djibouti.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed in southern and central parts of Sudan, south-western and southern parts of Eritrea, several parts of northern, western, and central Ethiopia, south-western parts of Somalia, and western and coastal parts of Kenya.

Moderately drier than usual conditions were observed in north-central parts of Sudan, southern and eastern parts of Ethiopia, northern, central and parts of southern Somalia, much of Uganda, northwestern, central, and eastern parts of Kenya, eastern, southern, and central Rwanda, much of southern Burundi, and several parts of Tanzania.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderate to severely wet rainfall conditions were observed in western, central, and eastern parts of Sudan, several parts of western and central Eritrea, much of Djibouti, a few areas in north-eastern and western Ethiopia, a few areas in north-western South Sudan, western parts of Kenya, and in north-western Rwanda.

Moderately dry to extremely dry conditions were observed in parts of northern Sudan, central, southern, and eastern Ethiopia, several parts of Somalia, central and southern parts of South Sudan, much of north, western, and south-central Uganda, several parts of Kenya, southern Burundi, and much of eastern, central, southern, and western Tanzania.
