Observed rainfall conditions for October to December (OND) 2021
Rainfall

- Heavy rainfall exceeding 1000 mm was not recorded in the region.
- Moderate rainfall between 500 - 1000 mm was observed over northwestern part of Tanzania and in isolated part of southern Burundi.
- Light rainfall between 200 - 500 mm was observed in south-west South Sudan, in western Ethiopia; in much of western and southern Uganda; in western, central and coastal parts of Kenya; in much of Rwanda and Burundi; and in much of north-western and central coast of Tanzania.
- Rainfall between 100 - 200 mm was observed over several parts of Eritrea, Djibouti, Ethiopia; northern and southern Somalia; north-east and in the central Rift Valley of Kenya, in much of South Sudan; northeast, central and eastern Uganda; and in much of central and eastern and southern Tanzania.
- Dry conditions (usual during this time of the year) were observed in most parts of Sudan; north-eastern and central parts of Somalia, and in north-west Kenya.

- Wetter than usual conditions were observed in north-western Tanzania and in a few isolated areas in western and central South Sudan; and in central and north-western Ethiopia.
- Usual rainfall conditions were observed in over much of South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Rwanda, Burundi; western and southern Uganda, and north-western Tanzania.
- Moderately drier than usual conditions were observed in southern parts of Sudan, southern parts of Ethiopia; over north-east and southern Somalia; in northern, central and southern parts of Kenya, north-east Uganda; and in much of central, western and eastern Tanzania.
- Much drier than usual conditions observed in northwest Kenya, central Somalia and much of southern Tanzania

- Moderate to severely wetter than usual rainfall conditions were observed in a few areas in western South Sudan; north-east and central parts Ethiopia, south-west Uganda, southern Burundi and northwest Tanzania.
- Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, north and south-west Somalia; north and central Ethiopia; much of north and central South Sudan, southern parts of Uganda; in much of western and eastern Kenya, much of Rwanda and Burundi; and in northern and north-west Tanzania.
- Moderately drier than usual to severely dry conditions were observed in southern parts of South Sudan, southern Ethiopia; over much of central and southern Somalia; north, central and eastern Uganda; in the north-west, central and southern Kenya, southwest Rwanda, northeast Burundi; and in much of central, eastern and southern Tanzania.
