Recent rainfall anomalies

Drier than and much drier than usual conditions were observed in northeastern, central to southwestern Ethiopia, in southern Uganda, in much of southern Kenya, in much of Rwanda and northern Burundi, and in northern, central and southeastern Tanzania.

Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in a few areas in northwestern Tanzania.

No rainfall condition was observed in in much of Sudan, South Sudan, Somalia, western Eritrea, in parts of Djibouti, in northern, northwestern and eastern Ethiopia, in northern parts of Uganda, and northern Kenya.

Near Normal conditions were observed in southern Burundi, in northwestern, western and southwestern Tanzania.

Recent rainfall totals

Moderate to high rainfall of between 26-100 mm was observed southern Burundi, and in several parts of western, central and southern Tanzania.

Light rainfall of between 6- 25 mm occurred in parts of southern Uganda, western Kenya, in much of Rwanda, in northern Burundi, and in northern and eastern Tanzania.

Rainfall less than 5mm was observed in the rest of the region.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderately dry to severely dry conditions were observed in southern Uganda, western Kenya, in Rwanda, in northern Burundi, and in north-central to central and southeastern Tanzania.

Moderately wet to extremely wet conditions were observed in a few isolated areas in northwestern Tanzania
