Recent rainfall anomalies

Standardized Precipitation Index

Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in central to eastern Sudan and southern parts of Sudan, in western Eritrea, in parts of western, central and southeastern South Sudan, in southwestern central to northeastern Ethiopia, in several parts of Uganda, in much of western Kenya, and in northern and western parts of Rwanda.

Drier than usual conditions were observed in parts of western, central to eastern Sudan, in western and southern Ethiopia, in southern parts of Somalia, in southeastern Kenya and eastern Tanzania

Near Normal or no rainfall conditions were observed much of the rest of the Region.

Moderate to heavy rainfall of exceeding 100 mm was observed parts of central Ethiopia and in parts of western Kenya.

Moderate rainfall of between 26-100 mm was observed in southern parts of Sudan, in several parts of South Sudan, in western Eritrea, in western, northwestern and central parts of Ethiopia, in northern, central and eastern Uganda, and in parts of western Kenya.

Light rainfall of between 6- 25 mm occurred in central parts of Sudan, in southwestern Uganda, in parts of southern Somalia, and in southeastern and northwestern Kenya.

Rainfall less than 5mm was observed in the rest of the region

Moderately wet to severely wet conditions were observed in some parts of southern, central and eastern Sudan, in several parts of South Sudan and Uganda, in western parts of Eritrea, in southwestern, central to northeastern Ethiopia, in western parts of Kenya, and in northern and western Rwanda.

Moderately dry to severely dry conditions were observed in a few areas such as western Ethiopia and parts of western Sudan.

Usual rainfall conditions and no rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.
