Recent rainfall totals

Rainfall of exceeding 100 mm was observed in a few areas in central Kenya, and northwestern and northeastern Burundi.

Moderate rainfall of between 26-100 mm was observed in much of western Uganda and southwestern Uganda, in western and central Kenya, in much of Rwanda and Burundi, in a few parts of southern Somalia, and in northwestern parts of Tanzania.

Light rainfall of between 6- 25 mm occurred western and southwestern Ethiopia, in southern South Sudan, in much of eastern Uganda in southern Somalia, in northeastern, eastern, southern and southeastern Kenya, and in northwestern, eastern to southwestern Tanzania.

Rainfall less than 5mm was observed in the rest of the region.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderately dry to severely dry conditions were observed in several parts of Uganda, in parts of northwestern, eastern and southern South Sudan, in southwestern, southern and eastern Ethiopia, in central, and parts of southern Somalia, in parts of western, northwestern, northeastern and southeastern Kenya, and in parts of northern and south eastern Tanzania.

Moderately wet to extremely wet conditions were observed in northern and southern Rwanda, in several parts of Burundi, central parts of Kenya, and in parts of northwestern and central Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions and no rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.

Recent rainfall anomalies

Drier than usual conditions were observed in several parts of Eritrea, Djibouti, South Sudan, Ethiopia, central to eastern Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, and northern and central Tanzania.

Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in Burundi, in northern and southern Rwanda, in central parts of Kenya, and in northwestern and central part of Tanzania.

No rainfall condition was observed in in much of Sudan, in western Eritrea, in parts of northern and northeastern and eastern Ethiopia, in northern and central parts of Somalia, in northwestern Kenya and in central parts of Tanzania.

Near Normal were observed much of the rest of the Region.
