Recent rainfall totals

Moderate to heavy rainfall 100 -200mm was observed in a western Ethiopia.

Moderate rainfall of between 26 - 100 mm was observed in southern parts of Sudan, in southwestern Eritrea, in much of South Sudan, the western, northern and central Ethiopia, and in northern and southeastern Uganda.

Light rainfall of between 5 - 25 mm was observed in parts of central and eastern Sudan, in eastern margins of central Ethiopia and in northeastern Ethiopia, in southeastern Somalia, in in southeastern South Sudan, in eastern and central parts of Uganda, and in western and coastal Kenya.

Usual dry rainfall was observed in northern and central parts of Sudan, in coastal, central and southern Eritrea, in much of Djibouti, in northeastern, eastern and southern Ethiopia, in much of northern, central and southwestern Somalia, in much of northern, central, eastern and southern parts of Kenya, in southwestern Uganda, and in much of Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.

Recent rainfall anomalies

Wetter than usual conditions were observed in a few areas in southwestern Sudan and western Ethiopia.

Drier than usual conditions were observed in central and eastern parts of Sudan, in several parts of Eritrea and Djibouti, in northeastern, central and southwestern parts of Ethiopia, in northwestern, central and southern parts of South Sudan, in several parts of Uganda, in much of western and central f Kenya, and in parts of southern Somalia.

Usual rainfall conditions were in observed in southern parts of Sudan, in northern and western Ethiopia, and in western and parts of northern South Sudan.

No rainfall conditions were observed in the northern parts of Sudan, in coastal Eritrea, in eastern Ethiopia, in northern and central parts of Somali, in northern, eastern and southern parts of Kenya, and in much of Rwanda Burundi and Tanzania.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderately to severely wet conditions were observed in a few places in southwestern Sudan and western Ethiopia.

Moderately to severely dry conditions were observed in central and eastern Sudan, western and central Eritrea, in much of Djibouti, in parts of northern and central Ethiopia, in northwestern, eastern and southern parts of South Sudan, in part of central Somalia, in several parts of Uganda, and in parts of western and central Kenya.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of the rest of the region.
