Recent rainfall totals

Heavy to moderate rainfall between 50 - 200 mm was observed in southwestern Ethiopia, over much of Uganda, in western and central parts of Kenya, much of Rwanda, Burundi, and in northern, western and eastern Tanzania.

Light rainfall between 25 - 50 mm was observed in several parts of South Sudan, in central and eastern Ethiopia, southern Somalia extending to eastern, northern and northern coast of Kenya, some parts in northern and central Uganda, and in northeast and southern Tanzania.

Rainfall between 5 - 25 mm was observed in northern parts of South Sudan, in several parts of western and central Eritrea, in much of northern and eastern Ethiopia in southern parts of central Somalia, in a few areas in eastern Kenya, and in a few areas in central Tanzania.

Usual dry (usually dry in this time of season) was observed everywhere in Sudan, in western and southern Eritrea, Djibouti, in northern and central Somalia, and in a few isolated parts in eastern Kenya and central Tanzania.

Recent rainfall anomalies

Wetter than and much wetter than usual conditions were observed in northwest and eastern parts of South Sudan, western Ethiopia, eastern and southern parts of Uganda, much of western and central Kenya, eastern Rwanda, and quite a lot areas in western, northern and southeastern Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed in much of Eritrea, Djibouti, in several parts northern, central and eastern Ethiopia, in quite a lot of the areas in central and southwest South Sudan, in northern, central and western Uganda, in quite a lot of parts of central, northeast and eastern Kenya, much of Burundi, southern Somalia, and eastern parts of Tanzania.

Drier than usual conditions were observed over a few areas in north-central and southwest of South Sudan, in quite a few places in northern, eastern and southeastern Ethiopia, in central parts of Somalia, in a few areas in northeast, eastern and coastal Kenya, and in western Rwanda.

Much drier than usual conditions were observed in northeast and central parts of Somalia.

Standardized Precipitation Index

Moderately to extremely wet conditions were observed in northwest and eastern parts of South Sudan, western Ethiopia, southern and eastern Uganda, eastern Rwanda, in western, northwestern, and central parts of Kenya, and in western, northern and isolated parts of eastern Tanzania.

Usual rainfall conditions were observed over much of Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, north, central and southeastern Ethiopia, southern Somalia, several parts of north, central and southern South Sudan, in much of north central and western Uganda, western Rwanda, several parts of Burundi, northeastern, eastern and coastal Kenya, and in several parts of eastern Tanzania

Moderately to severely drier than usual conditions were observed in western and north-central parts of South Sudan, in eastern and southeastern Ethiopia, over much of north and central Somalia, and in a few isolated areas in eastern and coastal parts of Kenya.
