Rainfall
Wetter-than-normal to much-wetter-than-normal conditions
- Much wetter than normal: These conditions were observed in several parts of Sudan, western Eritrea, northern Ethiopia, Djibouti, pockets of northern Somalia, northern South Sudan, northeastern Uganda, and western Kenya.
- Wetter than normal: These conditions occurred in areas surrounding the regions classified as much wetter than normal, covering large parts of the countries listed above.
Near-normal conditions
- Near-normal rainfall conditions were observed across parts of Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, coastal Somalia, southern South Sudan, northwestern Uganda, and western Kenya.
Drier-than-normal to much-drier-than-normal conditions
- These conditions were widespread across the region, particularly over Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, southeastern Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, and pockets of Sudan.
No-rain conditions
Areas receiving no rainfall were observed in parts of Tanzania, Burundi, Kenya, southeastern Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, and Sudan.
- High rainfall accumulation (>100 mm): These amounts were recorded in a few pockets of western Ethiopia.
- Moderate to high rainfall (26–100 mm): These amounts were recorded across western Eritrea, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, several parts of Uganda, and western Kenya.
- Moderate to low rainfall (6–25 mm): These amounts were observed surrounding the moderate-to-high rainfall areas, including Djibouti and coastal parts of Tanzania and Kenya, as well as southern Somalia.
- Very low to no rainfall (0–5 mm): These conditions were observed across several parts of Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, southern Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, southeastern Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, and Sudan.
