Rainfall
High Rainfall Accumulation Highest Rainfall (>100mm)
- These amounts were recorded in a few pockets in western Ethiopia and western South Sudan.
Moderate to high Rainfall of between (26-100mm)
- These amounts were recorded mostly in the northern parts of the region from western Eritrea and Ethiopia through to Sudan and South Sudan. These patterns extended into northwestern Uganda, and western Kenya.
Moderate to Low Rainfall of between (6mm–25mm)
- These were observed in areas surrounding the moderate to high rainfall regions highlighted including the coastal parts of Tanzania, Kenya and Somalia.
Very Low or No Rain Very Low Rainfall (1–5mm)
- These were observed in several parts of Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, southern Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, southeastern Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Sudan.
Wetter than normal-to-much wetter than normal conditions
- Much wetter than normal: This category was observed in western to northern Ethiopia, western Eritrea, Sudan, South Sudan and northwestern Uganda.
- Wetter than normal: This category was observed in areas surrounding the darkest green areas, covering most of countries highlighted above.
Near normal conditions
- Predominantly observed in Sudan, South Sudan, western Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, coastal parts of Somalia, northwestern Uganda, western parts of Kenya.
Drier than normal-to-much drier conditions
- These conditions were observed in most parts of the region including Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, southeastern Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea and Sudan.
No rain
Observed in Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya, southeastern parts of Ethiopia, Somalia, and Sudan.
