Rainfall
- Very High rainfall (>200mm) amounts were recorded in a few areas in the southwestern and coastal parts of Tanzania.
- High Rainfall (101-200mm) amounts were recorded in southern and a few hotspots in northern Tanzania, as well as central and western parts of Kenya.
- Moderate to high Rainfall (26-100mm) amounts were observed over most parts of the region including Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, southern South Sudan, and central to south-western Ethiopia.
- Low Rainfall (<25mm) amounts were observed in northwestern to central to eastern parts of South Sudan, several parts of Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, southern and north-western Somalia, and northern parts of Kenya.
- Generally dry conditions were observed in much of the northern sectors of the region including Sudan, northern Eritrea, Djibouti, most parts of Somalia, northern South Sudan, and south-eastern Ethiopia.
Wetter than Normal to much wetter than normal rainfall Conditions
- Much wetter than Normal: This category was observed in much of Tanzania, southern and eastern parts of Uganda, several parts of Kenya, southeastern part of South Sudan, southern and a few patches in northern Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti and a few areas in Somalia.
- Wetter than Normal: This occurred in areas surrounding the much wetter than normal (darkest green areas), in Burundi, Rwanda, western to central to southwestern parts of Uganda, in western part and northeastern parts of Kenya, in parts of southwestern and northeastern Ethiopia, and in northwestern Tanzania.
Near Normal Conditions
- Predominantly observed in Uganda, southern South Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia and Kenya.
Drier Than Normal Conditions
- These conditions were observed in southern parts of South Sudan, several parts of southwest, central and northeastern Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, and southwestern Somalia.
No Rain
- Observed in northern and the dry parts of the region, particularly in Sudan, a few areas in northern parts of South Sudan, western Eritrea, northwestern and eastern Ethiopia, and several parts of Somalia.
