Normal conditions will prevail in most parts of the region
- High chances of warmer than usual temperatures over parts of southern Ethiopia, parts of central, eastern & coastal Kenya, western to southern parts of Uganda extending to adjacent areas of Tanzania localised regions in eastern South Sudan, & parts of central, northern & coastal Sudan.
- The rest of the region is likely to experience normal temperatures.
Wetter than usual June for most of the region
- High chances of above normal rainfall over much of Kenya, northern Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, central & northern parts of Somalia, much of Ethiopia, South Sudan and Sudan.
- Normal to below normal rainfall likely over southern parts of Somalia, part of coastal and northeastern Kenya, eastern & western Tanzania extending to Burundi, and part of western Ethiopia.
Forecast (June 2020)
- Widespread wetter than usual conditions over several parts of South Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, northern Somalia, Uganda, western and central Kenya, southern parts of Sudan, and northern Tanzania. •
- Higher than usual temperatures expected in several parts of Sudan, Djibouti, western and southern Uganda, and eastern and coastal Kenya.
- Farmers and pastoralists in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi are advised to take advantage of enhanced rainfall by investing in cash and food crops. Flood response is advised over parts of South Sudan, Djibouti, Somalia, and Sudan.
