On 21 May 2020, Ministers responsible for Agriculture and Livestock of the Member States of IGAD held a virtual ministerial meeting on Desert Locust (DL) Upsurge and Coordination of Control Operations in the IGAD Region with representatives from international and regional organizations involved in food security and nutrition, and DL control operations.

During the meeting, the Minsters considered the report and recommendations from the deliberations of the 'High-Level Virtual Inter-Regional Meeting on DL Upsurge, Coordination and Control', that was held on 23rd April 2020; making declarations that are included in this communique.
