At the 3rd IGAD-ClimSA High-Level Meeting on Mainstreaming Climate Services into Policies, Development Plans, and Programming, held on 8 October 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya, Ministers of Finance and Planning from IGAD member states, together with key stakeholders, deliberated on integrating climate services into national policies and programs. The communiqué outlines key commitments to enhancing climate resilience in the region, including integrating climate services into national policies, strengthening institutional capacities, improving early warning systems, and advancing regional collaboration.

The ministers further resolved to mobilise resources for sustained investment in climate services and to establish monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure continuous progress. This communiqué marks a significant step towards building a more climate-resilient IGAD region.
