Gender-Sensitive and Inclusive Early Warning Systems and Climate Services
Countries within the IGAD region are among the most vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change and associated hazards. Climate variability continues to threaten livelihoods, with women, children, and marginalized groups, including persons with disabilities, often disproportionately affected.
To address these vulnerabilities, the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Working Group for East and Southern Africa in collaboration with IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC), have initiated joint efforts to promote gender-sensitive and inclusive climate services and Early Warning Systems (EWS). These systems are key to enhancing preparedness, risk reduction, and resilience among communities most at risk.
